KI—A History in Pictures
KI began as a havurah of a scant two dozen families sometime in 1970, meeting in members' homes. We soon outgrew people's homes and rented space in the Unitarian Universalist Church (the "UUs") in East Lansing. Then, in 1982, we purchased the old Forest School building from the Lansing School District, and settled in.
The photos in this slideshow were scanned from photos contributed by members to KI over the years and kept in photo albums in our library. The earliest pictures were taken in 1972 to 1978 in our rented space at the UUs where we held our services, events, and KI Religious School classes. Next are several photographs of KI members performing in a scaled-down production of "Fiddler on the Roof" in 1981. Following are photos in our current building, including its dedication service (June 1982), school classes (1983-85), and Purim Spiel pictures from 1985 to 2005.
